How to Do "Roman Lacing" for Shoelaces

"Roman Lacing" Instructions
Feel free to arrange the "I" and "X" patterns as you like.
We'll introduce two variations: one starting with "I" and one starting with "X."

Instructions: Starting with "I"
1: Run the lace straight across on the outside and feed through the bottom eyelets.
2: On both sides, run the lace up vertically on the inside, from the first eyelet to the second.
3: Cross both ends on the outside, feeding them through the third eyelets.
4: On the left, run the lace up vertically on the inside, from the third eyelet to the fourth.
5: Run the left lace straight across on the outside and feed through the opposite (right) eyelet.
6: Run the right lace on the inside to the fifth eyelet on the left.
7: On the right, run the lace up vertically on the inside, from the third eyelet to the fifth.
8: Tie the knot to complete.
Instructions: Starting with "X"
1: Feed the lace through the bottom right eyelet.
2: From the bottom right eyelet, run the lace across on the outside to the second eyelet on the left.
3: From the bottom right eyelet, run the lace up vertically on the inside to the second eyelet.
4: From the second right eyelet, run the lace across on the outside to the bottom left eyelet.
5: From the bottom right eyelet, run the lace up vertically on the inside to the third eyelet.
6: Run the left lace straight across on the outside and feed through the opposite (right) eyelet.
7: From the second left eyelet, run the lace up vertically on the inside to the fourth eyelet.
8: Run the left lace straight across on the outside and feed through the opposite (right) eyelet.
9: From the fourth right eyelet, run the lace on the inside to the fifth eyelet on the left.
10: From the third right eyelet, run the lace on the inside to the fifth eyelet.
Tie the knot to complete.
